In the first quarter of 2019 the UCA IEC 61850 Edition 2 conformance tests of Schneider Electric universal current protection relay Easergy P5U20, voltage protection relay Easergy P5V20 and motor protection relay Easergy P5M30 were successfully carried out at Schneider Electric IEC61850 lab in China.

The implementation of the IEC 61850 communication interface in these products was done based on INFO TECH IEC 61850 Software Library and with the assistance of our team.

The UCA IUG certificates of the IEC 61850 Ed.2 conformance Level B for Easergy P5U20, Easergy P5V20 and Easergy P5M30 were published in March and April 2019.

Our training session organized in LINTE2 Laboratory of Gdansk University of Technology gathered 22 participants from 9 companies and institutions. The group was indeed composed of experienced specialists in the field of electrical engineering, many of them with more than 10 years long record of work with power automation systems, including also IEC 61850 based installations. Thus, the training content could be truly enriched by discussing e.g. experience from system configuration and specific implementations of reporting function and GOOSE in various devices.

Our advanced IEC 16850 training course collected the following ratings in the evaluation scale from 0 (lowest) to 5 (highest):

Training material rated 4.4

Competence of instructors rated 4.9

Significance to participant's work rated 3.7

Novelty of acquired information rated 3.0

General evaluation of the training rated 4.0

The participants indicated also the following topics of the training as most interesting:

  • cybersecurity,
  • part 8-2 (new protocol stack for DER systems),
  • comparison of editions 2 and 2.1 with edition 1,
  • hands-on exercises with frame analysis (a new extended version of WireShark application was developed and provided by INFO TECH to enable complete MMS message interpretation in accordance with the IEC 61850 semantics).

INFO TECH highly values the co-operation with the Faculty of Electrical and Control Engineering and with the LINTE2 Laboratory staff to organize this course in the premises allowing to demonstrate an operating IEC 61850 based power automation system.

Starting from the beginning of April 2019  INFO TECH Technology Office operates in the new premises - on top floor of the Green Office building, Gdansk, Partyzantow 76.

The new place in the building located on the heights gives us a magnificent view of the city and also of the sea.

In January 2019 the UCA IEC 61850 Edition 2 and IEC 61850 Edition 1 conformance tests of Schneider Electric feeder protection relay Easergy P5F30 were successfully carried on by TUV China.

The implementation of the IEC 61850 communication interface in this product was done based on INFO TECH IEC 61850 Software Library and with the assistance of our team.

The UCA IUG certificates of the IEC 61850 Ed.2 conformance Level A and the IEC 61850 Ed.1 conformance Level A for the Easergy P5F30 protection relay were published on the 18th of March 2019.

Do you know the global list of IEC 61850 conformance certificates granted to products supporting IEC 61850 communication by testing labs accredited by the UCA International Users Group?

Then please acknowledge that by January 2019 already 3% of the listed certified server devices (protection relays, bay controllers, monitoring units, etc.) apply INFO TECH IEC61850 Software Library for implementing the IEC 61850 communication interface. Due to the leading role of our customers-licensees among the protection relay vendors, this result can be justifiably extrapolated for INFO TECH achieving 3% of the global market share in supplying the IEC 61850 implementation to protection relays.

The pre-testing service done by INFO TECH has certainly helped our customers-licensees to pass the conformance tests of Ed.1 and Ed.2 at DNV GL, TÜV and other labs without any real obstacles.

Our team is proud of this achievement and shares the satisfaction from the market success of our customers' products.
